Our History
Swisher Memorial Hospital History
Swisher County Hospital opened its doors for business in March of 1928. The nurses had a garden and raised chickens to keep food costs down. The community donated many needed items to get the hospital running. The original building was a two story facility with no elevator. The current hospital facility broke ground in 1968 and has been in operation since. Swisher Memorial has grown in the years that followed the groundbreaking.
The current hospital system is comprised of an acute care hospital, the Tulia Rural Health Clinic, Tule Creek EMS, Swisher Memorial Home Health, Swisher Memorial Assisted Living and our new Wellness and Therapy Center.
Swisher Memorial has a rich history of giving and collaboration with the communities in the county we serve. That tradition is alive and well today and we look forward to serving the needs of our patients and communities well into the future.
